Our History
George Marazes, the owner of Nick's Pizza Palace, was almost three years old in 1967 when his parents Nick and Aspasia decided to leave Katerini, Greece with him and his sisters to come to America in hopes of finding a better life. Aspasia's brother had come over to America years earlier and had his own pizza place in Northfield, MN.
George and his sisters, Aleka and Anna went to school and their parents worked at his uncle's restaurant until 1977, when they decided to give it a try on their own. The family moved to Owatonna and after many months of hard work, Nick's Pizza Palace opened in January of 1978.
Now here we are, coming up on 39 years of business, Nick and Aspasia hung up their pizza paddles and moved back to Katerini in the early 90's. Aleka and Anna have also returned to Katerini to raise their families. As for George, he still lives in the same house he grew up in here in Owatonna. He hopes that someday one of his children may choose to carry on the tradition.
Nick's Pizza Palace looks forward to serving Owatonna in the years to come and we hope to have you join us for dinner soon
